I do pen and ink archaeological illustration and hand lettered maps. I went to school to be an archaeologist (BA philosophy and anthropology, University of Illinois, Urbana), but got distracted and went into the nuts and bolts end of the commercial art business. I’m also a calligrapher. Missing archaeology, I started doing archaeological illustration in the early ’90s and have been ever since. I have a distinguished client list. I also teach successful workshops: most years since 1999 at the SHA conference, also at the Oriental Institute, SAA, California BLM, and the University of Illinois at Chicago.
