ANCIENT MANUSCRIPT COMMITTEE RECORDS, 1963- 1981

By Cynthia Rufo

Collection Overview
Title: Ancient Manuscripts Committee Records, 1963-1981
Creator: American Schools of Oriental Research Ancient Manuscripts Committee
Extent: 1.0 Boxes
Arrangement: The collection is arranged in one alphabetical series by subject.
Languages: English

Scope and Contents
The majority of the collection is correspondence regarding the study, publication rights, and preservation of the Dead Sea Scrolls, and the funding of the Committee. The correspondence also documents the discovery and purchase of manuscripts by other organizations. A significant portion of the letters were written by, or contain information about Elizabeth Hay Bechtel and John Trever. The Ancient Biblical Manuscript Center file contains administrative materials for that organization, which, though separate from Â鶹ֱ²¥, aided Â鶹ֱ²¥ in the acquisition of manuscripts. As with the correspondence, many of the materials were created by, or pertain to Elizabeth Hay Bechtel, who served as president of the organization.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Box and Folder List
