[/vc_column_text][mk_divider][vc_column_text]The Committee for Publications of Âé¶¹Ö±²¥ announces a call for the nominations of the editor/s of Âé¶¹Ö±²¥â€™s Archaeological Report (Âé¶¹Ö±²¥-ARS) Series. The term of office for the position is three years, beginning January 1, 2021 and is eligible to be renewed one time. Review of nominations will begin September 1, 2020 and continue until the position is filled. The Committee for Publications seeks to send nominations to the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees by November of 2020. This is a voluntary and unpaid position.Self-nominations are preferred and should include the following items: 1) a one-paragraph academic biography; 2) a brief statement describing why the candidate is interested in the position and qualifications for the position (such as previous editing experience); and 3) contact information (including e-mail and phone). If a candidate is being nominated by another person, we seek the candidate’s name, a short academic history, a brief statement describing why the candidate would be appropriate for the position, contact information, and, most importantly, a statement from the candidate that he, she or them agrees to their name being placed into nomination.

Nominations for each position should be directed to Kevin McGeough, Chair of Âé¶¹Ö±²¥â€™s Publications Committee (kmcgeough@gmail.com), with a copy to the Âé¶¹Ö±²¥ office (publications@asor.org).
List of Responsibilities for Editor/s of the ARS-Âé¶¹Ö±²¥ Book Series
- Correspond with Author/Editor from initial queries about proposals through to the publication of the book
- Facilitate peer reviews for proposals and manuscript (including identifying and contacting reviewers, following up with reviewers)
- Review text and illustrations of submitted manuscript and provide summary of needed corrections to Author/Editor (confirm that Author/Editor in question has permissions for images/tables included in text)
- Communicate with Publications Manager at Âé¶¹Ö±²¥ to prepare contract and subvention agreement with Author/Editor and contributors
- Copyedit manuscript (correcting grammar and spelling, checking for internal consistency, checking tables for consistency, checking tables and illustrations against text, and checking text references against bibliography)
- Oversee prepress design (typesetting) and coordinate proofreading
- Provide list of anonymous peer reviewers for Publications Manager at Âé¶¹Ö±²¥ for distribution of gratis copies
- Assist with contacting authors and editors for information for marketing and sales for Âé¶¹Ö±²¥ website, catalogues for our book distributor, and Âé¶¹Ö±²¥ Annual Meeting
- Provide reports and updates for COP Meeting at the Âé¶¹Ö±²¥ Annual Meeting, for the Spring Board meeting, and when requested by the Chair of the Publications Committee
- Participate in the Âé¶¹Ö±²¥ Monographs Editorial Board
