POSTDOCTORAL POSITION AT THE COTSEN INSTITUTE

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]The Cotsen Institute of Archaeology, UCLA, Los Angeles, California, announces a postdoctoral position for the academic year, 2014-15, to begin September 1, 2014. We are seeking a recent Ph.D. in archaeology or any field related to archaeology (anthropology, art history, history, or area studies such as Classics, Near Eastern Studies, etc.) with a research project and/or methodological specialization that complements resources at the Cotsen Institute, such as paleo-environmental studies, historical archaeology, early complex Old World societies, or any area of Asian studies.

The position will be funded for a period of one year [10 months], and will include benefits.

Qualifications: This position is for a recipient of a recent Ph.D. degree, earned between 2011 and 2014 (degree date by June 30, 2014).

Applicants should submit a cover letter describing their research goals and how they would pursue them in a year at the Cotsen Institute, along with a current CV (including names of 3 referees to be contacted). Applicants should also design and submit a short proposal for a graduate seminar (for a 10-week UCLA quarter, to be scheduled at convenience of faculty and students) with suggested readings, topics, etc. that allow UCLA students to explore cultural regions, periods, material culture or methodologies beyond regular, resident offerings.

Candidates must be in residence at UCLA for the full three academic quarters (Sept 2014–June 2015), and should not plan for any extended fieldwork away or other absences during this period.

Applications: Deadline: March 1; review of applications will begin in March, with the intention of making an offer in April. Applicants may be contacted for an online live interview.

Salary: The level of remuneration is dependent on experience.  Current salary range for postdoctoral positions at UCLA is set at $39,264 – $49,884, and may be revised in the future. In addition, health care costs will be provided which increases the remuneration package.

In addition, the Cotsen Institute of Archaeology will reimburse up to $5,000 in research funds for travel, research assistance, or related expenses incurred during the time of appointment, as well as office space and staff support for teaching purposes.

If the successful applicant is a non-U.S. citizen, s/he will need to submit paperwork for a US visa through the Cotsen Institute, and possibly visit a US Embassy or Consulate in country of origin.

Applicants interested in this position should send cover letter and C.V. to: Erika Santoyo, Student Affairs Officer at the Cotsen Institute of Archaeology.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column border_color=”rgba(170,170,170,0.01)” width=”1/6″ css=”.vc_custom_1496684098866{margin-right: 5px !important;margin-bottom: 20px !important;border-right-width: 2px !important;border-bottom-width: 2px !important;padding-top: 30px !important;padding-right: 10px !important;padding-left: 10px !important;background-color: #ffffff !important;border-right-color: rgba(227,228,228,0.75) !important;border-bottom-color: rgba(227,228,228,0.75) !important;}”][vc_wp_posts title=”BROWSE THE NEWS ARCHIVE” number=”4″][/vc_column][vc_column border_color=”rgba(170,170,170,0.01)” width=”1/6″ css=”.vc_custom_1496684008271{margin-right: 10px !important;margin-bottom: 30px !important;border-right-width: 2px !important;border-bottom-width: 2px !important;padding-top: 30px !important;padding-right: 20px !important;padding-left: 20px !important;background-color: #ffffff !important;border-right-color: rgba(227,228,228,0.75) !important;border-bottom-color: rgba(227,228,228,0.75) !important;}”][vc_column_text] [/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
