Âé¶¹Ö±²¥ ANNOUNCES LYNN SWARTZ DODD AS Âé¶¹Ö±²¥ SECRETARY

Âé¶¹Ö±²¥ is pleased to announce Dr. Lynn Swartz Dodd of the University of Southern California (USC) as our new Secretary. The Âé¶¹Ö±²¥ Board of Trustees voted unanimously at its fall meeting on November 18, 2012 to elect Dodd to a three-year term (2013-2015) as Âé¶¹Ö±²¥ Secretary and member of the Executive Committee. Dodd succeeds Prof. James F. Strange of the University of South Florida who served as Secretary for three terms and more than ten years. Prof. Strange continues his service to Âé¶¹Ö±²¥ as a member of the board of trustees (Class of 2015).

Dr. Dodd received the Ph.D. degree from UCLA. She is an archaeologist with an interest in the politics of social change in ancient and modern societies of the Near East and Egypt. As Curator of USC’s , she undertakes technical material studies, excavation publication projects, research involving lasers, and also new imaging techniques. Her most recent fieldwork has been in the Hatay region of Turkey near Antakya, where she has been Field Director of the Amuq Valley Research Project survey, located about 100 miles south of the site of her dissertation research in the Marash Valley. Dodd is also working on the publication of the University of Chicago’s Tell al-Judaidah excavation, also in the Amuq. Closer to home, she contributes to the documentation of Native American sites in California. She co-directed the excavation of a multi-period mound Kenan Tepe on the Upper Tigris River. She is co-Director of USC’s .
